Bruce spent his youth creating jewellery and objects in Adelaide. Then moved to Melbourne to explore the museum merchandise environment Returning home to found "Bluey Boronia"
Bluey Boronia ( presents Perch) was founded in late 2017
with assistance from Renew Adelaide and the City of Adelaide.
The "wellness gallery" celebrates mind-fulness and well-being stocking merchandise that embraces "soft skills" assisting an individual to flourish. The store encourages conscious gift-giving by posing the question
"What would you like to say?"
This allows for a diverse and inclusive selection of heart-felt, humorous and honest stationery conversation starters and games.
The small space is filled with tokens, trinkets and trophies celebrating the human condition from local and international creatives and brands.
The space actively engages with the "rainbow" community and allies by hosting promotions, events and exhibitions.
This has included "Push My Button" during Adelaide's Feast Festival with customers able to create custom badge buttons and family friendly activities pre-Pride March.
The pandemic has meant less face-to-face interaction, a gradual adoption of e-commerce and personal shopping options.
The store will continue to be a cornucopia of treats for the hard-to-buy-for, the rebels, the lovers, mis-fits and dreamers.
The vision for 2020 has been revised to a slow simmer with a gradual re-branding, re-working and consolidation in preparation for a bright 2021
